🍂 November has barely started, and the calendar is already filling out nicely. This weekend brings two events that feel genuinely different—a major international film festival and a small, carefully put-together night of blues and art—along with ballet, comedy, some great family activities, markets and more live music than anyone could reasonably fit into four days.
Here’s what’s happening from Thursday through Sunday.

Ticker, Entry, Exit: Today's Trade, Texted to You
Most stock tips leave you guessing. You get a ticker and nothing else: no idea where to get in, and no idea when to get out.
Today we're doing it differently. We'll pick one stock to buy and text you the whole trade: the ticker, the entry price, and where to sell.
There's no newsletter to dig through and no chart to decode, just the three things you need, sent straight to your phone.
It's free, and it takes less than a minute to sign up. Enter your number and today's trade is on its way.
This Weekend’s Top Picks

International Queer Film Festival Playa del Carmen
Thursday, November 5 through Wednesday, November 11 | Multiple venues, Playa del Carmen
The Queer Film Festival is back for its 13th year, and the program is a big one: 95 films from 26 countries, along with university screenings, visiting filmmakers and a closing-night awards ceremony with a mini recital by Morganna Love. Weekend screenings begin at Cinépolis Plaza Las Américas on Thursday at 7 PM and continue nightly through Sunday. Individual tickets start at 55 MXN. There is also a free outdoor screening at Plaza 28 de Julio on Saturday at 8 PM if you would rather watch under the stars.

Blues & Art Fest
Friday, November 6 | 6 PM | La Casa del Habano, Playa del Carmen
Blues, art and cigars is a pretty good combination for a Friday night. Renatta Rivera and guitarist Daniel Apolinar will handle the music, Rafael Ontiveros will show his work and there will be a live cigar-rolling demonstration. The 1,200 MXN ticket includes a welcome cocktail, appetizers, one Habano and two house cigars. This is an adults-only event and space is limited to just 25 people, so I would not leave this one until the last minute.

Fun for Families
Nohoch Fest 2026 continues through Saturday, November 7, in Puerto Aventuras with five days of outdoor sports, workshops, demonstrations and hands-on activities. The program includes skateboarding, surfing, slacklining, BMX, roller sports, dodgeball and paddleboarding, with options for a wide range of ages and experience levels.

Long Life Blessing Ceremony at Akumal Natura Rescue takes place Saturday, November 7, bringing together Tibetan Buddhist teacher Lama Dorje Chang Serkong Rimpoche and Maya spiritual guide Don Egilio for blessings for the sanctuary’s rescued animals and Mother Earth, a guided meditation and lunch. Admission is free, donations are welcome, and advance reservations are required.
