โœจ Dr. Luigi Palermoโ€™s 3 Favorite Tips for a Natural Skin Glow

One of the most common questions Dr. Luigi Palermo hears at Timeless Beauty is surprisingly simple: โ€œHow do I get that healthy, natural glow?โ€

The answer usually has less to do with makeupโ€”and more to do with skin quality.

According to Dr. Luigi, these are three of the most important foundations for luminous, healthy-looking skin:

โœง Hydration is everything โ€” Glow doesnโ€™t start with makeup. It starts with deep hydration. When your skin is properly hydrated, it reflects light better and looks smoother. This can be achived through medical-grade skincare, hyaluronic acid treatments and skin boosters for long-term radiance. Hydrated skin = healthy glow.

โœง Prevention over correction โ€” Donโ€™t wait for deep wrinkles or dull texture.
Small, precise treatments โ€” done at the right time โ€” help maintain collagen, improve skin texture and reserve natural facial structure

โœง A personalized medical approach โ€” There is no universal โ€œglow formula.โ€ Your skin type, age, lifestyle, and goals matter. A professional evaluation allows us to design a subtle plan that enhances your natural beauty โ€” never changing who you are. True aesthetic medicine should enhance confidence, not create artificial results.

At Timeless Beauty, the philosophy is simple: refined, healthy skin should look natural, balanced, and effortlessโ€”never overdone.

๐Ÿ›๏ธ La Isla Shopping Center Coming to Playa
Playa del Carmen is getting a major new retail development with the announced arrival of a La Isla shopping center. Mayor Estefanรญa Mercado says the project will bring significant private investment and more than 2,000 jobs to the municipality. ๐ŸŠ Famous Crocodile Finally Snaps in Tulum Cenote
For years, Panchito has been one of Casa Cenoteโ€™s most famous residents, peacefully gliding through the brackish water while tourists snorkeled, filmed, and floated nearby. But this week, the Moreletโ€™s crocodile reportedly bit an elderly visitor. Witnesses say people had been throwing stones at him to provoke a reaction. The incident raises uncomfortable questions about wildlife tourism, visitor behavior, and whether natural sites need stronger rules when wild animals and tourists share the same space. Read more

๐Ÿฏ Quintana Rooโ€™s Sacred Maya Honey Just Got Federal Protection
One of the Yucatรกn Peninsulaโ€™s oldest traditions just received major recognition. Mexico has officially granted protected geographical status to Melipona honey from the Maya zone of Quintana Roo, giving legal protection to the rare honey produced by stingless xunรกn kab bees. The designation covers communities in Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Josรฉ Marรญa Morelos, and Tulum. For local producers, itโ€™s a cultural victory, an economic opportunity, and a big step toward protecting one of the regionโ€™s most unique products. Learn more

โšฝ World Cup Fever Is Coming to the Riviera Maya
Mexico is planning a massive public viewing strategy for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with free screenings, fan festivals, concerts, and local celebrations across the country. While the official host cities are Mexico City, Monterrey, and Guadalajara, Quintana Roo is also preparing its own World Cup activations, and Playa del Carmen is already working on a โ€œRuta del Fanโ€ along 5th Avenue. For local businesses, this will be a welcome boost. For the rest of us, it means plenty of places to watch the matches. Read more

โšก CFE Introduced New โ€œSmart Metersโ€
CFE is rolling out smart electricity meters across Mexico, replacing older devices with technology designed to track usage more accurately, detect faults faster, and reduce illegal connections known as diablitos. For residents in Quintana Roo, where heat and rapid growth are already putting pressure on the grid, the change could help identify problems more quickly. Standard residential replacements should be free, so be wary of anyone trying to charge for the swap. Read more

๐Ÿท A One-of-a-Kind Estate in Tulum Country Club

Some properties are impressive on paper. This one is something else entirely.

Set on a sprawling 1,800 mยฒ lot overlooking the 7th fairway of the Robert Trent Jones IIโ€“designed golf course, this dual-villa luxury estate is built for a very specific buyer. Someone who appreciates scale, design, and details you simply wonโ€™t find anywhere else.

Youโ€™re not just getting one home here, but two fully furnished luxury residences, connected by an outdoor space that feels like a private resort. Think twin glass-tiled pools, a dramatic waterfall feature, heated year-round, and a central gazebo designed for entertaining on a serious level. Every element has been carefully considered, from custom cabinetry and high-end finishes to beautifully lit gardens that transform the space at night.

And then thereโ€™s the unexpected. A cavern wine cellar and underground dining room, accessed through massive antique doors, carved into natural rock and designed for unforgettable evenings. Itโ€™s the kind of feature that turns a property into an experience.

This is not for everyone. But if itโ€™s for you, youโ€™ll know immediately.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Take a closer look here but even the photos wonโ€™t do this justice.

TRAVEL TALK

๐Ÿณ Whale Shark Season Officially Opens

Whale shark season has officially opened in the Mexican Caribbean, and for many travelers, this is one of the most unforgettable wildlife experiences in the region.

The season runs from May 15 to September 17, with tours departing from places like Isla Mujeres, Holbox and Cancรบn. While sightings are possible early in the season, the best window is usually July and August, when larger numbers of whale sharks gather in the plankton-rich waters north of Isla Mujeres and around the Holbox area.

Despite the name, whale sharks are not whales. They are the largest fish in the world, gentle filter feeders that glide through the water eating plankton. Tours involve snorkeling, not diving, and all visitors should go with a licensed operator that follows the official rules.

A few tips for a better experience:

  • Book with a reputable, permitted tour company.

  • Go early in the day when seas are often calmer.

  • Do not touch, chase, or block the whale sharks.

  • Use reef-safe sun protection or cover up with a rash guard.

  • Bring motion sickness medication if you are prone to seasickness.

  • Manage expectations. This is wildlife, not a theme park.

Isla Mujeres is often the most popular launch point, while Holbox offers a more laid-back island base for making a longer trip of it. Either way, this is one of those seasonal Riviera Maya experiences worth planning around.

The official management plan lists the Mexican Caribbean season as May 15 to September 17 but local operators report that July and August are the peak sighting months so keep that in mind when you make your travel plans.

โœˆ An Important Reminder for Mexican Residents

Recently, there has been a lot of chatter online suggesting that travelers entering Mexico expecting a 180-day visa are suddenly being granted shorter stays. Some are being asked for proof of paid lodging for the duration of their visit. Alarmists claim visitors are being โ€œpunishedโ€ because of strained politics between the U.S. and Mexico.

Of course, I went straight to our local immigration specialist, Milly Arceo, to find out what she is hearing from INM and her own clients. As usual, the internet has taken a kernel of truth and run a marathon with it.

Hereโ€™s the calmer version.

Visitors entering Mexico may be granted up to 180 days, but that time is never guaranteed. It is, and always has been, at the discretion of the immigration agent. At least in this region, with travelers entering and exiting through Cancun, Cozumel, or Tulum, immigration agents are not interested in your nationality or your politics.

The red flag for immigration agents is a passport showing repeated 180-day stays back-to-back, which suggests someone is living in Mexico as a tourist rather than visiting. This holds true for all foreign visitors, regardless of nationality.

Iโ€™m not denying that some travelers have been pulled aside and denied a 180-day stay, but according to Milly, it is not a widespread issue that the average traveler needs to be concerned about.

There is, however, a much bigger issue to consider: people with Mexican residency traveling in and out of the country and using the automated kiosks.

Milly asked that I publish this reminder for my readers, since many of you are Mexican residents or hope to be one day.

If you have temporary or permanent residency in Mexico:

  • Do not use the automated kiosks when entering Mexico.

  • Go directly to an immigration officer.

  • Have both your passport and residency card in hand.

  • Present your residency card clearly before your passport is stamped.

  • Double-check your entry stamp before walking away. It should be marked RT for Temporary Resident or RP for Permanent Resident.

  • Your stamp should NOT show a number of days granted.

If you have temporary or permanent residency, you may not use the kiosks at immigration. If you do, you may be entered as a tourist instead of as a resident. This simple mistake can jeopardize your residency status and force you to start the residency process over from the beginning, costing you time and money.

๐Ÿ“ Milly Arceo is a professional immigration specialist whose company, Legally in Mexico, helps thousands of foreigners obtain Mexican residency every year. You can reach her by email at [email protected] or by WhatsApp at 984 157 5589.

๐Ÿ›๏ธ Hot Sale Is Coming Soon. Donโ€™t Miss Out!

If you are living in Mexico you need to know about Hot Sale. Like Buen Fin, this is a nationwide shopping event with big discounts across tech, travel, home goods, and more. But unlike Buen Fin, the offers are only available online. Itโ€™s basically Mexicoโ€™s answer to Cyber Monday but lasting a whole week!

What makes it especially useful is convenience. You donโ€™t need to deal with crowded stores or limited inventory. Everything is done online, with many major retailers like Amazon, Mercado Libre, and Liverpool delivering straight to your door. It doesnโ€™t get any easier than that.

A few practical tips from experience:

  • Start tracking prices now so you know whatโ€™s actually a deal

  • Check bank promotions if you have a Mexican credit card, as thatโ€™s where the best savings often are

  • Look at travel deals, since flights and hotels can drop significantly

Itโ€™s easy to overspend if you browse without a plan. Go in knowing what you want and you can really save some pesos. This year, the Hot Sale will run May 25 through June 2, so you have some time to plan ahead. This is one of the best times of the year to shop smart in Mexico, so donโ€™t miss out!

NOTES ON NAPKINS

Thai Fest Returns to the Riviera Maya

There are dinners you enjoy. And then there are dining experiences you talk about weeks later. Thai Fest at Banyan Tree Mayakoba falls firmly into the second category.

For one night, the jungle setting around the Lily Pond becomes the backdrop for a thoughtfully executed celebration of Thai cuisine. Expect bold, balanced flavorsโ€ฆ the kind that hit sweet, spicy, sour, and savory all at once and somehow make perfect sense. Lemongrass, coconut, fresh herbs, slow-simmered curries, smoky grilled bites. The real deal, not a watered-down โ€œresort version.โ€

What I appreciate about this event is the intention behind it. Itโ€™s curated, itโ€™s paced and itโ€™s designed for people who actually care about whatโ€™s on the plate. Banyan Tree already knows how to set a mood, and when you layer in authentic Thai flavors and that lush Mayakoba setting, it feels special without trying too hard.

If you love exploring food beyond the usual suspects, this is your night. And events like this donโ€™t usually have tickets hanging around at the last minute, especially with discounted locals pricing in play.

If Thai cuisine makes your heart beat a little faster, Iโ€™d secure your seat sooner rather than later. Tickets are on sale here.
